• conduct testing of hazardous areas installations – coal mining
• conduct visual & detailed inspection of hazardous areas installations – coal mining

Description:

This course consists of National Units of Competency.
At the completion the course, if the learner complies with all the course prerequisites & is deemed competent they will receive a Statement of Attainment for the competencies listed.

Scope

This Competency Standard Unit covers the explosion-protection aspects of plant and machinery operation or maintenance. It requires the ability to visually identify any damage or deterioration of explosion-protected equipment, monitor equipment and plant in relation to changes in the explosion hazard and to follow procedures to limit the risk of an explosion.

Qualification Requirements:

Competence in this unit shall be assessed either concurrently with or after competence in Unit, Report on the integrity of explosion-protected equipment in hazardous areas , and competencies in the installation of electrical, electronic, instrumentation and/or data communication equipment and wiring systems have been achieved at AQF 3 or NQF 4 level or equivalent

Equipment and Materials:

The training room is a “clean clothes” area only, enclosed footwear at all times. Practical assessments may be conducted in a workshop environment, appropriate PPE, including eye protection; high vis clothing & steel capped safety boots may be required.

Mode of Delivery:

The course is conducted by a qualified trainer and is held at our facilities or yours. Each of our trainer led courses is skill-based and covers a range of certification requirements.
